The 50 State Rescue Challenge: Louisiana Edition

At Cause for Paws, we’re on a mission:

Get a pet adopted in every state.

This week’s spotlight falls on The Pelican State: Louisiana and Zeus’ Rescues.

Zeus’ Rescues Zeus' Rescues is a passionate no-kill animal rescue organization based in New Orleans.

Their driving mission is to put an end to pet homelessness and euthanasia in the metro area.

But their impact goes beyond just finding forever homes for rescued animals.

This all-volunteer group is committed to building a stronger, more compassionate community through pet education initiatives, with a special focus on engaging children and the elderly.

By fostering connections between people and animals, they aim to create a more humane society.

Zeus' Rescues doesn't operate a physical shelter.

Instead, they pull at-risk dogs from high-kill facilities and place them in foster homes until they can be adopted. This foster network, along with private donations and grants, is the lifeblood of their organization, as they receive no local or state public funding.

Bows is in need of training in many areas, including house training and general behavior, but he's eager to learn.

Meet Bianca, also known as Pretty Princess, a 1 1/2-year-old Boxer mix with a regal charm.

She prefers to be the only animal in the household, enjoying solo playtime.

Bianca loves going on walks but has a playful habit of tugging on the leash for a game of tug-o-war.

She needs training in all areas but is eager and willing to learn.
