The Richmond SPCA, founded in 1891, is central Virginia's oldest full-service humane society and one of the most prominent animal welfare organizations in the state.

Located at 2519 Hermitage Road in Richmond, this non-profit, no-kill shelter has made a significant impact on animal welfare, finding loving homes for more than 71,800 dogs and cats since becoming a no-kill facility in 2002.

The organization offers a wide range of services including pet adoption, low-cost veterinary care, spay/neuter programs, and humane education.

The Richmond SPCA operates with a mission that every life is precious. They provide comprehensive care for animals in need, including medical treatment, behavioral training, and socialization.

The organization also runs the Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital, offering affordable veterinary services to the community.

With a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, the Richmond SPCA continues to be a leader in animal rescue and welfare, promoting responsible pet ownership and working tirelessly to reduce pet overpopulation in the Richmond area.
