The 50 State Rescue Challenge: Arkansas Edition

At Cause for Paws, we’re on a mission:

Get a pet adopted in every state.

This week’s spotlight falls on the Natural state: Arkansas and the Humane Society of Pulaski County

Since 1946, the Humane Society of Pulaski County in Little Rock, Arkansas, has been making a profound impact on the lives of domestic animals in Central Arkansas.

This private, no-kill shelter operates solely on donations, fundraisers, bequests, and grants, receiving no government funding or affiliation with other organizations.

The Humane Society of Pulaski County is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, providing veterinary care, spaying/neutering, and finding loving homes for dogs and cats in need throughout Central Arkansas. They pull animals from overcrowded city and county shelters, accept owner surrenders, and care for unwanted, abused, injured, or stray pets.

At any given time, the shelter houses around 200 animals, with approximately half available for adoption and the other half receiving medical treatment from their in-house veterinary staff until they are ready for adoption. They are the only 4 star rated shelter in Arkansas.

🐾 Aaron 🐾

Aaron

Aaron is one of seven brothers at the shelter. He’s 20 weeks old, a black lab mix, and his mother was rescued by a couple who kept the puppies until there was room at the shelter.

🐾 Pip 🐾

Pip

Pip is a one year old heeler/lab mix. She is playful and sweet but would be happiest being the only dog in the family.

She is current on her shots, spayed, and micro chipped, and ready for a fur-ever home.🐾🐕

🐾 Steele 🐾

Steele

Senior dogs need fur-ever homes too! Steele is a staff favorite and has had a hard time finding a home, due to no fault of his own.

He’s a 10 year old lab mix, but loves to play like a puppy. He LOVES outdoor play, and does great at dog parks, but would rather have a home of his own with a yard to play in.

He needs active exercise, so he’d be the perfect addition to an active family. 🐾❤️
