The 50 State Rescue Challenge: Wisconsin Edition
At Cause for Paws, we’re on a mission:
Get a pet adopted in every state.
This week’s spotlight falls on The Badger State: Wisconsin and Fetch Wisconsin Rescue.
Fetch Wisconsin Rescue is an all-breed dog rescue organization based in Madison, Wisconsin.
Founded in April 2013, this entirely volunteer-run non-profit has made a significant impact, rescuing more than 3,500 dogs to date.
The organization's mission focuses on finding forever homes for deserving dogs from overcrowded shelters in Wisconsin and beyond, as well as accepting owner surrenders.
Fetch Wisconsin Rescue operates with a commitment to helping dogs become confident and balanced, while also empowering their volunteers to be assertive pack leaders. They rely heavily on the generosity of donors to fund their rescue efforts, as they are 100% volunteer-operated.
Their work extends beyond just rehoming dogs; they also strive to control the pet population through spay and neuter programs, and offer opportunities for supporters to sponsor litters and even name rescued puppies.
With a strong community focus, Fetch Wisconsin Rescue continues to play a vital role in addressing the needs of homeless and at-risk dogs in the region.
🐾 Paw Profiles: Fetch Wisconsin Rescue Dogs Available for Adoption
🐾Jenson🐾
Jenson
Meet Jenson, a charming 6-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog mix weighing 30 pounds. This affectionate and intelligent puppy loves playtime with other dogs and toys. He excels in crate training, patiently waiting until he hears his release word, and can stay in his crate for over eight hours without any accidents.
Jenson is fully potty trained, reliably going to the door when he needs to go out and typically relieving himself right away when directed. His quick learning and excellent house manners make him a delight to have around.
Around people, Jenson is anything but shy—he adores attention and loves being showered with pets and affection. He thrives in an environment where positive reinforcement training is encouraged and would flourish with a patient owner who can train and challenge him.
Jenson's leash walking skills are improving, especially when he wears a harness. His calm demeanor and good leash manners ensure enjoyable strolls, creating pleasant outings for both him and his companion.
If you're looking for a loving, playful puppy to welcome into your home, Jenson could be your perfect match! 🐾⛰️
🐾Lucky🐾
Lucky
Meet Lucky, an adorable mixed breed puppy born on May 19th, weighing in at just 4 pounds. Lucky was born in foster care after his mama, a stray, was found pregnant and taken in by the shelter. With his wiry hair, Lucky looks most like his mama, who weighs 19 pounds, and it's expected that he will be around the same size when fully grown. Since his dad is unknown, this is a bit of a guess.
Lucky is a happy and friendly little guy who loves everyone. His tail is always wagging, and he adores people, kids, and other puppies. Although he can be a bit scared of big dogs at first, he cautiously approaches them, wagging his tail to see their reaction. If they're receptive, he excitedly jumps all over them. Lucky loves the foster family's cat and enjoys playful wrestling matches with him. He’s also been around goats, chickens, and donkeys and does great with all of them.
Lucky is working hard on his potty training and can hold it for about 2-3 hours at a time when indoors. He currently sleeps with his brothers, so he might be a little sad when he has to sleep alone for the first time, but with some time and patience, he will adjust just fine. Lucky is excited to meet his forever family and learn all his puppy skills!
If you're looking for a sweet and loving puppy, Lucky is ready to bring joy and companionship to your home!🐾🐕
🐾Duke🐾
Duke
Meet Duke, a 2-year-old black Lab mix weighing 56 pounds. Duke's southern foster described him as the "happiest dog around," and that's absolutely true. Full of life and energy, Duke is also incredibly easy to have around. He has a fantastic temperament with both humans (of all ages) and dogs (cats are unknown).
Duke is fully potty trained, house trained (he hasn't chewed anything he shouldn't and learned off-limits spots quickly), and crate trained (he may cry for a few minutes but settles down quickly). He's a great houseguest, not in your face all the time but enjoys being near you. He doesn't beg or bother during meals, is cuddly but not overbearing, and keeps himself occupied with toys or playing with other dogs.
Duke is working on leash manners, as he tends to pull, especially when he sees bunnies. He also doesn't like people on bikes or scooters, but this is improving with exposure. He reacts politely to other dogs and humans, usually wanting to play. He does jump up sometimes when excited, but this is usually just once after being let out of his crate.
Duke has an inspiring story of resilience. He likely experienced significant physical trauma earlier in life, resulting in a deformed right hind leg and a slightly misshapen lower lip. Despite this, Duke is the happiest dog and doesn't let his injuries hold him back. He runs on three legs, tucks his injured leg behind the other when standing, and wears a bootie to prevent scraping during walks. While under vet evaluation, Duke might never walk normally and is expected to develop early arthritis. He's currently on a daily joint supplement.
Despite his challenges, Duke is a fantastic fetch player, always finding the toy and bringing it right back to drop at your feet. He's a joyful dog who doesn’t know he's injured, running around and playing without any signs of pain.
Duke is looking for a loving home that can look past his injuries and give him the happy life he deserves. If you’re ready to welcome a joyful, resilient, and playful dog into your home, Duke is waiting for you!🐾❤️
