The 50 State Rescue Challenge: South Carolina Edition
At Cause for Paws, we’re on a mission:
Get a pet adopted in every state.
This week’s spotlight falls on The Palmetto State: South CarolinaandRescued in SC.
Rescued in SCis a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Founded as an all-volunteer effort, the organization is dedicated to rescuing dogs from high-volume shelters in South Carolina and Georgia.
Their mission extends to helping dogs of all breeds in need. They focus on saving dogs that have been abandoned at high-kill shelters, though they also assist dogs in need from various other circumstances.
Rescued in SC's primary goal is to find safe, happy homes for every dog they rescue, ensuring each animal becomes a cherished member of a loving family.
Rescued in SC emphasizes the importance of adoption, not just as a means of providing homes for deserving dogs, but also as a way to reduce demand for puppy mills and large-scale breeding operations that often prioritize profit over animal welfare.
By promoting adoption, they aim to make a broader impact on animal welfare in their community and beyond.
🐾 Paw Profiles: Rescued in SC Dogs Available for Adoption
🐾Harlow🐾
Harlow
Meet Harlow, a sweet and resilient 5-year-old, 25-pound girl who's ready for her forever home! Harlow is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea prevention. Her journey to rescue began when a kind veterinarian refused to euthanize her because she wasn't getting along with her family's new puppy.
Shortly after arriving in rescue, Harlow experienced a painful tooth root abscess, but her teeth are now clean and feeling great. Her foster mom noticed Harlow occasionally limping, leading to a visit with Dr. Gallivan, a board-certified veterinary surgeon. Harlow underwent successful tendon repair and, after weeks in a splint, is now able to run and play like a new girl.
Described as a "velcro dog," Harlow thrives on close companionship and would be happiest as the only pet in her new home. While she currently lives with other dogs in her foster home, she doesn't like sharing her foster mom's attention and longs to be someone's best (and only) girl.
If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, Harlow is waiting to be your one and only!🐾⛰️
🐾Jack🐾
Jack
Meet Jack, an adorable 11-week-old German Shepherd puppy weighing around 20 pounds. Jack is neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
Jack is an affectionate, athletic, and funny pup who loves to play. With his playful spirit and loving nature, he's sure to bring joy and laughter to any home.
If you're looking for a fun and active companion, Jack is ready to be your new best friend!🐾🐕
🐾Stuart🐾
Stuart
Meet Stuart, a spirited 2-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix weighing around 8 pounds. Stuart is neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea prevention. He came to his rescue after being hit by a car, which resulted in broken hips and a leg that required surgical repair. Despite his injuries, Stuart's tenacious spirit never let him down, and he has made a full recovery.
Stuart is described by his foster mom as "ALLLL TERRIER and SASSY!" He’s a little too fearless for his own good, often thinking he’s much bigger than his small size. Stuart needs an owner who will set boundaries and help him learn good manners, ensuring he becomes his best self. He’s not suited for those looking for a docile lap dog but rather for someone who appreciates his bold and energetic personality.
If you’re ready for a lively and sassy companion, Stuart is waiting to meet you!🐾❤️
