1 Simple Way To Help Your Dog Live Longer And Healthier

Most people never consider this when it comes to helping their dog live longer...

From Our Family To Yours This Holiday Season…

As the holidays roll in, we’re reminded why this season matters so much. It’s about warmth, second chances, and making room at the table for those who need it most.

Because of you, dogs who once faced cold nights and closed doors are now curled up in safe homes. They’re discovering toys, soft beds, and the feeling of being chosen. Families are finding joy in muddy paws, happy chaos, and a kind of love that fills the house fast.

We share their stories. You pass them along. And because you do, lives change. Thank you for carrying this mission with us during the season of giving and all year long.

Rescue Dog Saves Owner’s Life One Month After Adoption!

Source: Newsweek

Auggie almost never got his chance. He was just another mixed-breed dog sitting in a shelter, waiting for someone to see him before time ran out. Then one family said yes. They brought him home, not knowing how quickly that decision would matter.

Just one month later, Auggie’s new owner suddenly collapsed while visiting family in South Carolina. She was disoriented and unable to call for help. Auggie knew something was wrong. He ran to get her husband, acting in a way he never had before. His behavior was urgent. Impossible to ignore.

Because Auggie wouldn’t stop, help came in time. Paramedics arrived. Her life was saved.

Like Auggie, most dogs are waiting, filled with love, loyalty and devotion… and we can all use more of that in our lives! One rescue. One second chance. Two lives forever changed.

1 Simple Way To Help Your Dog Live Longer And Healthier

Most people think of diet or exercise when it comes to helping their dog live longer. Few realize how much everyday chemicals can silently destroy their health.

A review published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute and supported by veterinary research found that dogs exposed to lawn herbicides and household pesticides face significantly higher risks for cancers, including lymphoma and bladder cancer (PMC, 2024).

Since dogs spend their lives close to the ground and groom themselves after walks, they absorb far more of this toxic residue than we do.

Here’s 4 simple ways to protect them:

  • Skip or reduce chemical lawn treatments where your dog plays.

  • Wipe your dog down after outdoor walks, especially their paws.

  • Keep cleaning sprays and air fresheners away from your dog’s bed or food area.

  • Choose pet-safe cleaners made from simple, non-toxic ingredients (we love products from TrulyFreeHome).

Reducing exposure to harsh chemicals helps support your dog’s long-term organ, immune, and brain health.

Unique

My name is Unique! I’m a mixed breed puppy, about 12 weeks old and about 7 pounds.

I am a spunky girl. I’ve been very brave and confident since I’ve arrived to my foster family’s home. They’re super proud of how well I’ve been using the puppy pee pads, I am very calm and mild mannered.

I am potty trained and will sleep in a crate but it is not my favorite place. I am good with the other dogs in my foster home. I like to play with toys but prefer to be with people to love. Right now I’m in West Bloomfield, Michigan but I’d much prefer to be home with you :)

Meet Cuddles - a sweet, one-year-old Great Pyrenees mix with a heart as soft as her name. She weighs about 30 pounds and was saved just hours before her life would have ended.

She’s learning that crates are safe, that her people always come back, and that love is here to stay. Cuddles is smart, gentle, knows how to sit, and adores playing with her dog siblings of all sizes. She’s friendly with everyone, loves kids, and is curious about cats.

Cuddles just wants to love big - and be loved right back. 🐶
